HANGING SLEEVES

It's easy to display your quilt as wall art by adding a hanging sleeve.

HOW TO HANG A QUILT

Quilts as Art

For a small fee, we'll hand-stitch a hidden hanging sleeve to any quilt, using the same method used by museum curators to display textile art. The sleeve is blind-stitched flat against the top of the quilt, so there's no visible hardware! Just a clean, seamless look on your wall.

All you need to do is supply a simple flat hanging rod and two eyelet screws. We'll send you instructions for the easy DIY setup, and you can review our visual guide below.

You'll Need:

  • Flat wood trim molding cut to the length of your sleeve. We recommend using a piece approximately 1/4" to 3/8" thick x 1-1/2" to 2" wide
  • 2 small eyelet screws

Step 1

Hand-twist the eyelet screws into both ends of your wood trim, centering the screws. Make sure the wood is about 1" shorter than the full width of your quilt, leaving about 1/2" of clearance on both sides.

Step 2

Slide the hanging bar within the sleeve on the back side of quilt. Level the project, marking the ends where wall screws will go. Simply screw the bar to the wall, making sure the quilt overlaps the eyelet attachments. Voila!

Tips and tricks
  • Don't hang your project on a wall that receives a lot of direct sunlight. UV light will cause your wall hanging to fade over time.
  • To dust or clean your wall hanging, we recommend using a vacuum with an upholstery brush. Gently vacuum to keep your quilt fresh.
  • For a deep clean, we recommend dry cleaning or a gentle machine wash on a cold water cycle. Air dry flat.
