Haptic Lab

Materials - Cotton

In 2023, we began to transition our fabrics to conventional cotton, moving away from certified organic cotton. After consulting with our artisan partners and impact advisor, it became clear that organic cotton was no better than conventional cotton for our suppliers.

Even though our quilts and soft goods are no longer organic cotton, they continue to be made in a GOTS certified facility and all of our pricing will remain unchanged. Often when people hear GOTS, they only think of organic cotton, but the GOTS certification goes far beyond that - it requires an independent certification of the entire supply chain.  The GOTS certification in the manufacturing process sets strict standards for both environmental and social responsibilities. The certification ensures that our partners are working in a safe environment, that they are not exposed to harmful chemicals and that they have workers rights-freedom of employment, no child labor, bargaining power to name a few. You can read more about the GOTS manufacturing standards here.

Haptic Lab has been a certified B Corp since 2019. We are committed to continually improving with the feedback of all our stakeholders, through mutual respect and collaboration. This sometimes means stopping to really listen, and changing course. If you have any questions or just want to know more - please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly.

Thanks for being on this journey with us.
