Peace and democracy are not passive; they are something we tend to, like a garden. Artist Sara Kraemer has created a new collection of one-of-a-kind American Flags- this time using vintage floral fabrics.
The flags have a quiet power, and recall the use of flowers as symbols of hope and peace throughout American history. Sara sews on a treadle machine Singer Model 27 from 1894, passed down from her great-grandmother, who once stitched flags and banners for her family's shop on Fulton Street!
Each unique flag is made from Sara’s incredible vintage fabric collection, pieced together to form a patchwork rich with memory—just like America itself, where every thread (and every person) has a place.
All Flags come framed in a white frame.
