The Mount Rainier (Tahoma) Mountain Portrait is expertly crafted using a combination of detailed appliqué, embroidery and hand quilting that brings deep dimension to the wall hanging. This iconic peak is visible for nearly 100 miles, a powerful landmark in the Seattle area.
Mount Rainier (Tahoma) is a large, active stratovolcano in the Cascade Arc of Washington State. In the Lushootseed languages, Tahoma translates to "Mother of All Waters" or "One Who Touches the Sky." Haptic Lab acknowledges Tahoma as the ancestral homeland of the Cowlitz, Muckleshoot, Nisqually, Puyallup, Squaxin Island, Yakama, and Coast Salish people. We offer our full support in their efforts to restore the indigenous name of the mountain, as Denali was restored in 2015.
This is a wall hanging. Hanging sleeves are included with all Mountain Portraits: Denali, Three Sisters (Klah Klahne) Three Sisters), and Mount Everest.
